About the Campus
The Batangas State University, The National Engineering University and Aboitiz InfraCapital have come together to establish the BatStateU Aboitiz LIMA Campus, groundbreaking initiative that sets a new standard for industry-based education in the Philippines.
This visionary partnership combines BatStateU’s long-standing reputation as a premier educational institution with Aboitiz’s leadership in infrastructure development, technology, energy, banking, and sustainability. The synergy aims to cultivate a new generation of professionals who are not only academically proficient but also industry-ready‚Äîequipped with the skills, expertise, and hands-on experience needed to excel in the fast-paced global economy.
The BatStateU Aboitiz LIMA Campus is the embodiment of a shared vision between two leaders in their respective fields. By integrating industry practices into the curriculum, this campus aims to transform higher education in the Philippines and beyond.
The foundation for this partnership was laid in August 2024, when the concept of a new BatStateU campus within the LIMA Estate was first introduced to Mr. Raphael De Mesa, Head of Aboitiz Infracapital Economic Estates, during an initial engagement. Strategic dialogue continued in January 2025, further refining the direction of the collaboration and affirming the mutual commitment of both parties.
The partnership further deepened through joint activities such as curriculum co-development workshops, technical planning sessions, and coordination with key industry stakeholders within the estate. Legal and investment preparations were simultaneously carried out, ensuring that the academic vision would be matched with robust implementation.
On June 13, 2025, the Board of Aboitiz Infracapital approved the donation of ten hectares of land within the Aboitiz LIMA Estate to Batangas State University, designated for the development of its new engineering and technology campus. Subsequently, on June 19, 2025, the Batangas State University Board of Regents approved the establishment of the Batangas State University Aboitiz LIMA Campus, along with the offering of undergraduate and graduate programs in engineering and technology to be delivered at the new campus.
The milestone was formalized on August 12, 2025, in Makati City, where Batangas State University, The National Engineering University, and Aboitiz InfraCapital Economic Estates signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The signing marked the official launch of a partnership grounded in a shared commitment to co-create a world-class academic environment within a thriving industrial ecosystem—bridging education, innovation, and enterprise to shape the engineers and technologists of the future.
Our Identity
A university where industry is not a partner on the sidelines—but a constant presence in how students learn, grow, and lead.
This is where the future is engineered.
Redefining Engineering Education Through Industry-Based Learning
At Batangas State University Aboitiz LIMA Campus, Industry-Based Learning (IBL) is not just a pedagogical model‚Äîit is a strategic, immersive framework that places students at the intersection of academic excellence and real-world relevance. This pioneering initiative combines a fully industry-aligned curriculum with a physical location inside the LIMA Estate, one of the Philippines’ most dynamic industrial estates. By embedding the academic experience within the operational environment of leading firms, students benefit from direct exposure to the practices, technologies, and cultures that shape the industries of today and tomorrow.
Why Industry-Based Learning Matters
IBL bridges the traditional gap between classroom instruction and industrial realities. It integrates technical instruction with enterprise dynamics, industry mentorship, and real-time professional experiences. As a result, learners do not merely study industry trends—they participate in shaping them.
The Advantages of Industry-Based Learning
Curriculum Aligned with Industry Needs: Programs are codesigned with industry to match workforce demands.
Embedded Learning Environment: Campus location within the LIMA Estate ensures continuous proximity and access to real-world operations.
Professional Readiness: Students graduate with extensive exposure to actual workplace and industry practices, tools, and standards.
Mentorship and Networking: Industry professionals serve as mentors, lecturers, and project evaluators.
Industry Engagement Across the Learning Journey
From the first year through graduation, industry is an active co-educator. Engagement includes:
Admission Process Participation
Industry representatives are engaged in panel interviews and selection processes, ensuring that students admitted into programs possess the mindset and potential aligned with sector needs.
Curriculum Co-Design and Co-Delivery
Programs are shaped with direct input from industry experts, with select courses codelivered by practitioners to align academic content with evolving professional standards.
Capstone Projects on Real-World Industry Problems
Students tackle authentic industry challenges through mentored final-year projects, co-supervised by faculty and professionals to deliver viable, research-informed solutions.
Extended Professional Placement
Students undergo long-term, structured placements within industry partners—providing in-depth exposure to actual work environments, project cycles, and organizational practices.
The Extended Professional Placement (EPP) is a two-semester immersion that sets Batangas State University Aboitiz LIMA Campus apart. Integrated into the Industry-Based Curriculum, it goes beyond traditional internships by combining real-world industry experience with academic supervision and structured mentoring—giving students a competitive edge before they graduate.
Outcome and Skills Assessment
Industry partners are involved in evaluating student competencies and graduate outcomes, contributing to continuous program refinement and skills alignment
