A series of training program is being implemented and facilitated by the BatStateU Center for Adaptive Capacity – building and Technology Innovation for Occupational hazards and Natural Disaster (ACTION Center) headed by Dr. Nickie Boy Manalo, in coordination with the Office of Civil Defense, reinforcing the University’s mandate on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM), with the Incident Management Teams (IMTs) of all the 11 campuses, being held at the CALABARZON Integrated Research and Training Center (CIRTC) Building, Batangas State University PB Main I Campus, Batangas City.
Envisioning a more pro-active IMTs on disaster preparedness in all campuses is what the ACTION center is eyeing for, hence, putting this blueprint into existence bolsters the University’s initiatives on disaster relief efforts. This Level II course on Integrated Planning Process enables the members of the IMTs to discuss, brainstorm, plan, and decide for operational activities prior to the response and allows effective collaboration among the members of the planning section.
Before the implementation, BatStateU’s 11 campuses were grouped in 5 batches, with each batch consuming 5 days on a 7-module interactive discussion, workshops, structured learning exercises and demonstration. Speakers and experts are being invited by the Office of the Civil Defense on each batch, expounding on the essentials of disaster preparedness and response. Started last November 2019, this ongoing program is on its way to cover all the components needed to be absorbed by the IMTs of each campus and is expected to finish at the end of March 2020.
This initiative of strengthening the disaster preparedness and response mechanism of the University will equip the participants with the knowledge, skills and attitude essential for the integration of the planning processes and requirements to be used in the University’s ICS Operations.
