World Engineering Day 2024

The World Engineering Day 2024 celebration at Batangas State University-The National Engineering University (BatStateU-TNEU) was a remarkable event that highlighted the vital role of engineers and honored the achievements of women in the field. The day commenced with a vibrant Women's Month Parade, emphasizing gender equality and women empowerment. The parade, adorned with purple hues symbolizing solidarity, saw participation from BatStateU officials, faculty, staff, and students, serving as a powerful advocacy for women's contributions to society.

The opening ceremony set a patriotic tone with an Invocation, a video presentation on women's contributions throughout history, and the Philippine National Anthem. Dr. Elisa D. Gutierrez, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, provided insights into the event’s purpose and outlined the day's activities, followed by an inspiring message from University President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo. He emphasized the transformative power of engineering education in advancing the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

The event featured a series of engaging activities, including plenary talks from industry leaders. Engr. Jose Miguel Reyes discussed the evolving role of Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) in Southeast Asia, while Engr. Emiliana C. Patal delivered an inspiring presentation on the capabilities and potential of women engineers in society. The finalists of the World Engineering Day Hackathon 2024 were also recognized, showcasing innovative solutions aligned with the event’s theme.

Throughout the day, various exhibitions and competitions took place, such as the Engineering Design and Technology Expo, the DiskuSSCion Inter-department Debate, and the "Ideas Draft to Prototypes" Design Thinking Workshop. These activities encouraged creative problem-solving and collaboration among participants, while also highlighting the contributions of women in engineering. The afternoon session included additional competitions, such as the Water Rocket Launching Competition and the Sustainable Ship Design Competition, where BatStateU students excelled in multiple categories.

The event concluded on a high note with an awarding ceremony that celebrated outstanding achievements across various competitions. A surprise announcement revealed that BatStateU participants secured 3rd place in the World Engineering Day Hackathon in Lisbon, Portugal. The day ended with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between BatStateU, The National Engineering University, and the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, marking a commitment to future collaboration and knowledge exchange in the field of engineering.
