Competing among the world’s best young innovators, the Philippine delegation—led by BatStateU students—secured a landmark victory that reinforces the university’s standing as a rising powerhouse in robotics, engineering, and STEM education. The trio behind the championship win, Team Scarlet-Verdant BSU, dominated the RoboSports – Double Tennis category, emerging Rank 1 out of 56 global teams, ahead of strong delegations from Thailand and Taiwan, which secured 2nd and 3rd place, respectively. Composed of Joseph Bernard A. Maala, a first-year BS Mechatronics Engineering student from BatStateU Alangilan, and Light Gabriel M. Bandayrel and Norjeehan A. H. Nasser, both Grade 11 students from BatStateU Integrated School (Pablo Borbon), the team demonstrated exceptional skill in designing and programming fully autonomous robots capable of real-time coordination and strategic gameplay. Their winning performance showcased mastery of algorithm design, precision navigation, decision-making under time pressure, and high-level competitive robotics. In the RoboSports Double Tennis challenge, teams control two autonomous robots that must strategically push all balls from their side of the field to the opponent’s half within a two-minute match—requiring speed, coordination, and impeccable coding. The BatStateU champions outperformed teams from around the world, excelling in efficiency, robot intelligence, and match strategy. Their victory reflects BatStateU’s strong robotics program and the university’s commitment to strengthening STEM competencies among Filipino youth. “This world-class triumph attests to the exceptional talent and determination of our students,” said Dr. Tirso A. Team BSU-IS GMR placed 12th out of 56 teams in RoboSports – Double Tennis; Team JEEP ranked 16th out of 64 teams in the Future Engineers – Self-Driving Car category; Team SCOPE earned 16th out of 72 teams in Senior Future Innovators; Team HUREA placed 22nd out of 31 teams in Elementary Future Innovators; and Team BSU-IS ALR secured 24th out of 95 teams in Senior RoboMission—remarkable results that collectively highlight BatStateU’s deep pool of young robotics talents. Based in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, ABET is a premier global accreditor for college and university programs in applied and natural sciences, computing, engineering, and engineering technology. Following a rigorous evaluation conducted by experts and representatives from CAC-ABET, this milestone affirms that BatStateU’s computing programs meet the highest standards to produce graduates ready to enter critical technical fields that are leading the way in innovation and emerging technologies while upholding public welfare and safety. A new chapter in Philippine engineering education is unfolding as Batangas State University, The National Engineering University (BatStateU The NEU), partners with Aboitiz InfraCapital Economic Estates to establish a new campus within the LIMA Estate—a purpose-built, industry-integrated learning hub located in CALABARZON’s thriving industrial corridor. Batangas State University, The National Engineering University (BatStateU), proudly inaugurated the 10-storey Higher Education Building, named the Emilio Aguinaldo Building, a towering landmark that stands as the tallest academic structure in the region. The ceremony, held on January 23, marked a significant milestone in the university’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation. The event welcomed esteemed guests, with Director Nympha R. Manalastas, of the Department of Budget and Management Region IV-A (CALABARZON), serving as the keynote speaker. In her address, she shared profound insights into the role of educational infrastructure in national development and underscored the importance of visionary projects like the Emilio Aguinaldo Building in achieving the “Bagong Pilipinas.” She challenged the BatStateU community to make themselves a vital part of the institution for the future of Filipino engineers and the nation. According to him, the realization of this vision, a 271-million-peso architectural feat, after five years, was made possible by the coordinated efforts and devoted actions of various BatStateU offices, prioritizing both quality and timeliness. Expressing gratitude, Dr. Ronquillo extended heartfelt acknowledgment to all individuals and offices, who played an essential role in bringing this project to fruition. Batangas State University, The National Engineering University, soars high in the THE Impact Rankings 2023

On the heels of its recent recognition in the Top 100 Global Innovative Universities, Batangas State University, The National Engineering University secured a 601st-800th spot among 1,591 universities from 112 countries/regions in the Impact Rankings of the Times Higher Education (THE), released June 1, 2023. It emerged 4th highest-ranked University among universities in the Philippines. The THE Impact Rankings is the first global attempt to measure the contributions of universities worldwide to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching. The University is recognized for its significant initiatives in advancing SDG 14 (Life Below Water), crediting especially the University’s efforts in protecting, conserving, and strategically managing the Verde Island Passage (VIP), landing in the Global Top 200 most impactful programs. Meanwhile, BatStateU-The NEU’s programs in contributing to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption), and SDG 15 (Life on Land) have been recognized as some of the world’s best initiatives, ranking within the Top 400.
