Batangas State University unveils the Emilio Aguinaldo Building, a celebration of the University’s vision of excellence

Batangas State University, The National Engineering University (BatStateU), proudly inaugurated the 10-storey Higher Education Building, named the Emilio Aguinaldo Building, a towering landmark that stands as the tallest academic structure in the region. The ceremony, held on January 23, marked a significant milestone in the university’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation.

The event welcomed esteemed guests, with Director Nympha R. Manalastas, of the Department of Budget and Management Region IV-A (CALABARZON), serving as the keynote speaker. In her address, she shared profound insights into the role of educational infrastructure in national development and underscored the importance of visionary projects like the Emilio Aguinaldo Building in achieving the “Bagong Pilipinas.” She challenged the BatStateU community to make themselves a vital part of the institution for the future of Filipino engineers and the nation.

BatStateU President, Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, reflected on the scrupulous planning that went before the construction of the ten-storey building. According to him, the realization of this vision, a 271-million-peso architectural feat, after five years, was made possible by the coordinated efforts and devoted actions of various BatStateU offices, prioritizing both quality and timeliness.

Expressing gratitude, Dr. Ronquillo extended heartfelt acknowledgment to all individuals and offices, who played an essential role in bringing this project to fruition. He challenged both students and faculty to elevate the standard of education in the context of the 21st-century learning environment. Dr. Ronquillo’s hopes are vested in the inspiration and motivation he believes this new facility will provide in the academic community. He encouraged a reflective understanding of the values of perseverance, hard work, and service, emphasizing their significance in contributing to the betterment of the nation. Special appreciation was extended to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and the government for their support in fulfilling BatStateU’s role as the Philippines’ National Engineering University.

Embellishing the Batangas City skyline, the ten-storey Emilio Aguinaldo Building represents BatStateU’s pursuit of academic excellence and leadership in innovation. Each level, comprising classrooms, specialized laboratories (Physics Lab, Chemistry Lab, etc.), conference rooms, and multimedia rooms, signifies the university’s dedication to scholarship and service, crafted from the blueprint of aspirations and fueled by commitment and hard work.

This building, designed to cater to the ever-growing Red Spartan community, stands as a central pillar in realizing BatStateU’s mission of fostering lifelong learners and nurturing the next generation of leaders. Through its state-of-the-art facilities, the Emilio Aguinaldo Building aims to inspire active participation in nation-building by providing relevant education, fostering groundbreaking research, and driving innovation.

Named in honor of the first President of the First Philippine Republic, Emilio Aguinaldo, this building symbolizes the pledge to developing 21st-century leaders in the global knowledge economy. It thus echoes the enduring mission of Batangas State University, to lead innovations, transform lives, and build the nation.

Batangas State University is the Philippines’ National Engineering University by Republic Act No. 11694. Renowned for its engineering education excellence, this Level-IV state university has produced over 180 engineering board topnotchers, cementing its position as the country’s largest engineering university. Notably, BatStateU is the first and, thus far, the only state university in the Philippines with engineering and computing programs accredited by ABET’s Engineering Accreditation Commission and Computing Accreditation Commission. Batangas State University (BatStateU) has earned three stars in the QS Stars Rating. Furthermore, it was ranked as the 300th World’s Most Sustainable University in the 2023 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings and is also recognized as the 90th most innovative University globally in the prestigious World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2023 and secured a notable ranking between 601st-800th among 1,591 universities from 112 countries/regions in the THE Impact Rankings 2023.
