The event commenced with an opening prayer, followed by inspiring messages from Campus Director Dr. Rosalinda Comia and Department Chair Asst. Prof. Persius M. Garcia who emphasized the importance of collaboration and environmental stewardship. The Home Organization of Multi-Skilled Educators’ Secretary introduced the program’s purpose, which underscored the focus on equipping parents with practical gardening knowledge. The first session, led by Ms. Leizl Visleño, featured an informative lecture on basic vegetable gardening techniques, covering soil preparation, seedling care, planting, and transplanting. Pre- and post-tests were conducted to assess participants’ learning, and interactive discussions were rewarded with small prizes, encouraging active participation. Mr. Jabbar M. Matuan and Ms. Cristine Cabanig led the second session, focusing on organic concoctions, organic fertilizer production, and composting. Participants engaged in hands-on activities, such as creating banana-sap fertilizer and fostering a practical understanding of sustainable gardening practices. Asst. Prof. Marianne Custodio concluded the day with a lecture on companion planting and crop rotation, supplemented by pre- and post-tests to solidify participants’ grasp of key concepts. The day was enlivened by performances from BTLED 2101 students, adding excitement and engagement. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to all speakers, recognizing their invaluable contributions. The day concluded with a group photo, symbolizing the successful collaboration between students, faculty, and parents. Day 2 of the training began with the Masters of Ceremony Mr. Erickson E. Ondoy and Ms. Kimberly Joy S. Mendoza welcoming participants, followed by an opening prayer led by Ms. Mary Anne B. Veyra. To set an enthusiastic tone, the session opened with a recap activity, “Tumpakners,” engaging everyone in a fun, interactive review of the previous day’s lessons. resource speaker, Ma’am Georgia C. Magtibay conducted a pretest and delivered an insightful lecture on Integrated Pest Management, followed by a post-test to reinforce learning. The session was punctuated by an intermission performance from BTLED 2102 students, Mr. Rodolfo A. Picaso and Mr. Carlo U. Quintana, which infused energy into the event. Ma’am Recilyn Ilao followed with a discussion on Vertical and Container Gardening, as well as Urban Gardening techniques. She also administered pre- and post-tests to measure comprehension. After a brief break, the participants were treated to another performance by BTLED 2102 students, joined by the resource speaker, adviser, and PTA officers, creating a lively atmosphere of unity. The final session was led by Mr. Lorenz G. Ramirez, who provided an engaging lecture on Mushroom Cultivation, complete with pre- and post-tests. An open forum allowed participants to ask questions and gain deeper insights. The day ended with the awarding of certificates of recognition to the resource speakers, marking a productive and successful conclusion to the second day of training. The seminar GREEN: Growing Resilience through Education and Environmental Nurturing, with the theme “Strengthening Gulayan sa Paaralan Program for a Sustainable Tomorrow”, as part of the extension project Green Thinking: Growing Responsibilities in Education, Environment, and Nutrition was a resounding success, bringing together PTA officers from Rosario West Central School. The initiative, spearheaded by Asst. Prof. Marianne M. Custodio, aimed to equip participants with essential vegetable gardening techniques and promote sustainable practices to enhance food security and environmental stewardship. The program commenced with a heartfelt prayer led by Ms. Cristine P. Cabanig, setting a tone of gratitude and purpose for the day. Under the capable guidance of the master of ceremony, Mr. Lorenz G. Ramirez, the seminar unfolded smoothly, ensuring active engagement and participation from all attendees. One of the highlights of the seminar was the session on hydroponics delivered by resource speaker Ms. Maricar Aclan. She introduced participants to the fundamentals of hydroponic gardening, explaining how plants can thrive in a soil-less environment by using nutrient-rich water. Her demonstration was both engaging and practical, offering a step-by-step guide on setting up a hydroponic system. Participants eagerly asked questions and expressed their enthusiasm to incorporate hydroponics into their gardening practices. Ms. Karylle Manalo followed with an enlightening lecture on the best practices for harvesting various vegetables. Her session emphasized the importance of proper timing and technique to ensure the quality and yield of produce. She shared practical tips on identifying the right maturity stage for harvesting and demonstrated tools and methods to maximize efficiency. The audience responded enthusiastically, with many sharing their own experiences and asking insightful questions. Overall, the seminar fostered a sense of community and shared responsibility among the participants, who were eager to contribute to a sustainable future. By enhancing their skills in vegetable gardening and promoting environmentally conscious practices, the program successfully empowered the PTA officers to strengthen the Gulayan sa Paaralan initiative and serve as advocates for sustainable living. Through the project, the Extension Services Office Lipa and its partners were able to train 18 members of the community on Dressmaking, as well as provide them units of Solar-Powered and Conventional Sewing Machines. Rosima – Head, ESO Operation Shield was conducted by the Extension Services Office, in partnership with JJC Barako Lipa and Pinas Forward, to provide anti-covid kits to workers in public places like public terminals and food courts. They were selected as the beneficiaries for their perceived higher risk of contracting the disease due to their nature of work and their workplace. The primary beneficiaries were food court servers, drivers of public transportations, as well as vendors in public terminals. The activity benefitted at least seventeen (17) people. This project started this year 2022 and consists of multiple activities. It focuses on livelihood and the target participants are also taught about financial planning, how to handle their finances, and how to make income through this livelihood training to lessen poverty in the country. Two activities under this project were already implemented. Lined-up activities under this project were already proposed and ready to implement in the target adopted municipality, Talisay, Batangas. This project was also connected to the Bangon Batangas Program of Batangas State University. 4P’s Beneficiaries TRAINING ON FIRE SAFETY AND DRILL WITH PROPER USE OF FIRE EXTINGUISHERS FOR THE EMPLOYEES AND STUDENTS OF BATSTATE-U TNEU JPLPC MALVAR The College of Arts and Sciences under the program of BS Criminology spearheaded the Training on Fire Safety and drill with proper use of Fire Extinguisher for the employee and students of BatStateU JPLPC-Malvar. It generally aims to reinforce the teaching and non-teaching personnel, and students of appropriate knowledge, skills and preparations in case a fire incident will happen. FO3 Von Allen Olave and FO1 Brandon P. Ramos, ME from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP-Malvar) were the resource persons of the training. The lecture, discussion and question and answer portion were done in the morning session. The after-session was the actual drill on how to use the fire extinguisher. The employees and students from the campus have actively participated in the drill. BATSTATE-U JPLPC Malvar Faculty Members And Students TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER The College of Engineering conducted multiple technology transfers in a different company. It is the process of transferring technology from the person or organization that owns or holds it to another person or organization, in an attempt to transform inventions and scientific outcomes into new products and services that benefit society. Three beneficiaries were provided a developed technology from the research of students this year. The technology transferred was monitored by the implementing college. CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION REVIEW The College of Teacher Education conducted the Civil Service Examination Review for the employees and students of BatStateU JPLPC-Malvar and some employees from the Municipal Hall of Malvar under Job Order Status. The main objective of this review is to prepare the applications for the CSE. Passing the Civil Service exam would make them eligible for civil service and enjoy the benefits of being a government employee for their professional and personal growth. Ten over thirty examinees passed the recently conducted examination. The passing rate was 33.33% while the national passing rate was 19% which indicates that the passing rate of this examination review was still considered relatively high. Job Order Status Employees SEMINAR/TRAINING ON SMALL FOOD BUSINESS In line with the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Darasa entitled “Simula ng Kabuhayan, Sa Bisikleta at Karitelang mula sa Bayan!” that aims to promote livelihood to the community and give something to start with a business. The BatStateU-CIT Department was requested to conduct seminar/training on Basic Entrepreneurship to help their constituents run small and Food Safety Practices to educate the beneficiaries on the safety principles and all necessary guidelines to avoid harm. Basic Entrepreneurship was discussed by Mr. John Richard M. Esguerra of the Center of Technopreneurship of BatStateU Alangilan Campus and the Basic Entrepreneurship was discussed by Mr. Ellgine Libao and Mr. Hernandez, Research Specialists from DOST CALABARZON 4A. Social Science is any branch of academic study or science that deals with human behavior in its social and cultural aspects. Usually included within the social sciences are cultural (or social) anthropology, sociology, psychology, political science, and economics. On the other hand, Developmental Research is a systematic study of designing, developing, and evaluating instructional programs, processes, and products that must meet criteria of internal consistency and effectiveness. Having a dominant number of social science faculty researchers, the campus produces research on psychology, management, criminology, and education in which outputs are utilized for the improvement of life and education in the campus and other beneficiaries.
