Batangas State University in cooperation with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region IV-A hosted a partnership meeting with the delegates from Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), Singapore on August 1 at the Function Hall, 7th Floor, CIRTC Building, BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I, Batangas City. The meeting was held to discuss the possible areas of collaboration focused on the involvement and development of the students and staff. It aims to create overseas opportunities for students and staff to work on applied research projects and for internships. SIGNING OF MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY AND SHANGHAI UNIVERSITY OF ELECTRIC POWER AND SHANGHAI ELECTRIC POWER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY

To strengthen its academic consortium between various international academic organizations and institutions, Batangas State University, Shanghai University of Electric Power (SUEP) and Shanghai Electric Power Construction Company (SEPC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on July 9, 2018 at the Function Hall, 7th Floor, CIRTC Building, BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I, Batangas City. The partnership intends to provide opportunities for faculty members and students to actively participate in educational programs and practices among the three organizations in the areas of academic, administrative and professional development. The scope of activities indicated in the MOU includes, exchange of students for study and training programs, exchange of staff for research, lecture and discussion, exchange of academic information, research publication and other     resources, enrolment of suitable qualified students into appropriate programs for both undergraduate and postgraduate study, joint staff development programs, shared curriculum development activities, collaborative research, joint laboratory, internship/OJT (On Job Training) of the students, and employment of graduates.

OCEAN UNIVERSITY OF CHINA FORGES COLLABORATION WITH BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY

Delegates from Ocean University of China paid a visit to Batangas State University on April 18, 2017 to discuss possible collaboration and tie ups. As discussed, the partnership will focus on promoting Chinese language and culture through cultural exchange programs. The visit also opened opportunities for research studies on marine biodiversity.

As part of the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education initiative Unifying Communication by International Projects in Cambodia and the Philippines (UNICATION), the conference focuses on managing international projects and advancing “internationalization‑at‑home” across Asian higher education institutions. In his welcome message, BatStateU and PASUC President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo noted how UNICATION has strengthened the operational capacity of international offices in Philippine universities, allowing them to manage global partnerships “with greater order, consistency, and professionalism” and better prepare graduates for an interconnected digital economy. “Let it be remembered that today…we rekindled the fire to partner with all of you as we pursue the Sustainable Development Goals, especially on partnerships,” he stressed.  UNICATION Project Coordinator Ms. Natacha Moniz of Instituto Superior Técnico (Portugal) and Hungarian Ambassador to the Philippines Titanilla Tóth likewise underscored the value of the consortium’s two‑year collaboration and the friendships built along the way. The UNICATION Final Conference opened with Panel 1: “From Lisbon to Phnom Penh”, where representatives from IST (Portugal), University of Heng Samrin Thbongkhmum, Phnom Penh International University, and the National University of Management shared insights on coordinating cross-border projects and supporting international work within their institutions. A policy roundtable followed, discussing how ministries and universities can sustain the project’s impact through effective communication strategies, capacity-building, and collaborative practices. Two major project outputs were also launched: the Inclusivity Booklet, which offers practical guidelines to embed diversity in international engagements, and the Internationalization @ Home Guide, which promotes global perspectives within local campuses. The day concluded with a workshop on designing CBHE proposals, co-led by Phnom Penh International University and BatStateU, equipping participants with tools to build future Erasmus+ initiatives. As the UNICATION Final Conference enters its second day, BatStateU continues to demonstrate its vital role as a catalyst for meaningful EU–Asia academic partnerships. BatStateU opens 7th IRCIEST, ignites global dialogue on transformative research and innovation With bold steps toward fostering research that drives global transformation, Batangas State University, The National Engineering University (BatStateU The NEU), officially opened the 7th International Research Conference on Innovations in Engineering, Science, and Technology (IRCIEST) on October 22, at BatStateU Pablo Borbon Campus, reaffirming its leadership in propelling innovation and research excellence across the country and the ASEAN region. Anchored on the theme “Engineering the Future: Transformative Research for Global Advancement,” this year’s biennial conference gathers delegates from across the Philippines and abroad, including faculty researchers, policy experts, government officials, and industry partners, to explore research breakthroughs and practical solutions toward the realization of national and global sustainable development goals. Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, President of BatStateU and NEU, opened the program by welcoming innovators, researchers, academicians, and visionaries from different regions and countries. He pointed out that the growth of IRCIEST over the past 12 years reflects both the original vision of the initiative and the evolving challenges of today’s world. “The importance of this conference goes beyond mere statistics or publications… it is about translating knowledge into real-world applications that benefit communities, industries, and nations,” he remarked in his welcome address. Moreover, he also shared his perspective on the rapid pace of technological advancements: “Because each innovation accelerates the previous one, we will see which is the most efficient these days. This is meant to enhance our decision-making, speed, and sustainability, which are already in progress. The purpose of the Industrial Revolution is to transform how we design, produce, govern, and consume. It aims to bridge the gap between technology, human value systems, ethical innovation, inclusive innovation, climate change, and sustainability,” he said.  In closing, Dr. Rana left the audience with a thought-provoking challenge: “I am leaving you with these questions: Are we ready for a dynamic transformation? Are we ready for the challenges and opportunities posed by Artificial Intelligence?” As the three-day conference unfolds, participants can expect cutting-edge plenary talks, multi-track paper presentations, and thematic panel sessions on topics ranging from robotics and automation, machine learning, and green technologies, to AI, technopreneurship, agriculture, climate resilience, and university innovation ecosystems.
